  got this post from an ex-mormon website and the similarities to the jw way of thinking are always enlightening.

  i've got lots of thoughts.

  there are lots of problems with mormonism, and in response mormons have developed a number of responses to "explain" them.

  Desperate for Numbers!

  i met someone earlier this week whose ex-spouse is a jw - part of a fairly prominent jw family in this area.

  although never baptized, this person studied and went to meetings for about 4 years.

  this person even disclosed that they had progressed to the point of being an unbaptized publisher.

  Wow.

  I once knew someone that came into the "truth" and he progressed to the point where he became an "approved associate" and was allowed to go do FS. He would do what your friend did just stand in the background and watch. He would regularly put his hours slip in but it was never accepted by the PO because he wasn't actually doing anything. Back then you had to be actively witnessing in order to get your hours in before you became a "publisher"

  I guess standards really are slipping in dubdom.

  Well the memorial finished an hour ago in Sydney, where is my wife?

  this is the first year i have not attended the memorial ever.

  so i am sitting at home watching prison break, oh and surfing the net.

  my wife and daughter went, which i was happy about, as now everyone in the hall will notice my absence and know i am an apostate, and was not just d/f for some petty crime.

  Introducing: my daughter!!!!!!

  dear all,.

  my daughter (let's call her abbadette) is visting me in the netherlands for the frist time this week.

  she's nearly 16 and lives with her mum who is largely inactive but still culticly influenced.. my darling abbadette has kind of figured out that it is a load of (passes keyboard to daughter) utter and complete shite.. (regains use of keyboard) where ever did she learn langauage like that?

  When i was a JW

  i remember i was in high school and i really wanted to get on the theocratic ministry school.

  i was making progress, started getting responsibilities like the microphones, helped do little jobs e.t.c and slowly i was being brought into the center of the congregation.. i went for my "interview" to get on the theocratic ministry school and...... they knocked me back.

  told me 'someone' had told them i was swearing and even if it wasn't true they wanted me to spend more time upbuilding my faith.

  from what i gather reading this site that makes me "worldly".

  anyway, i am embarrassed to say we are both married and have children.

  She wants out of her marriage right, but she doesn't want to leave her religion. To be blunt the only way she can do this is to get her husband to have an affair or to get laid herself. She knows that if she goes off and sleeps with you and gets disfellowshipped the chances of her getting accepted back in are practically zero while she is still seeing you. So what is she playing at?

  You two will end up hurting a lot of people you can't escape that fact. But what if it doesn't work out, if a year down the line she starts to resent you for getting her disfellowshipped, for loosing her her children, for costing her her friends and family. In her mind it will be your fault. All those people you hurt would have been hurt for nothing.

  If you are unhappy in your relationship finish it and start off with a clean slate. As for this woman finish that too, there is so much baggage here it's bound to fail and you'll have the destruction of her family on your conscience.

  No good is going to come of this.
